Once up a time, long, long ago (well, O.K., 2001), I decided to get married. My fiance and I were both really into Renaissance faires and Scottish and Irish culture, so we decided to plan a wedding that incorporated those elements. While the marriage lasted only a year, the wedding was a lot of fun, so I decided to share it with the world.
For reference, the starting contents of this blog were formerly posted online at my website, www.apryl-knight.com/my_wedding.html . I've decided to stop paying for that domain (in an effort to save money), so I'm transferring it all here. In the process, I plan to update some of the links that may no longer be active, as well as adding new links whenever I find them.
My mother and I made my dress. I had fairy wings in place of a train or veil, and they were lovely! The main material for my dress was a gorgeous cream colored satin with gold brocade roses, and the inset was a simple cream satin. My matron of honor's material was a tone on tone green "brocade"ish satin. My mother and I also made all of the kilts and shirts for my groom, Robert, and all of our male attendants. My brother (who was in my honor guard) tried it on, and he looked great! (Although he didn't like having to lie on the floor to put on the kilt!)
Robert wore a great kilt and a man's leine. Our honor guard wore the same. I had a matron of honor, and Robert had a best man, and the only other attendants were 6 guys, who all carried swords and did the arch for us to walk under at the beginning and end of the ceremony, and knelt in a semi-circle behind us (facing the officiant) during the ceremony.
